The elastic band the goes over the foot is not adjustable, making the big silver buckle pointless. The arch support is good. The hook and loop closure around the heel is helpful. I'm going to have to return the shoes, though, because that elastic band just won't budge. So sad.

I have bad feet and these are the most comfortable sandals. I can wear them instead of my orthotics and be on my feet all day. They can be dressed up or down as well. True to size.

FIT: My lean bony feet measure 9.5 Womens, with a narrow heel, but wide ball of the foot. My toes are kinda long, and I usually need a 10 in closed shoes so that my 'nervy' 3rd and 4th toes don't get cramped in the slightest by the shoes. Naturally, I mainly picked these for their super high firm VIONIC arches, which I need and wear almost daily for support and comfort. These 9.5 VIONIC TORRANCE fit very well. Uniquely well in the non-adjustable front strap! See photos. There's a decent amount of extra length in front of and behind my foot.I might still try a size 9, because nearly an inch of the sidestrap Velcro is flapping in the breeze. (Just kidding, the extra length is stiff enough to sit flush with the sandal, so it's not totally goofy looking.) And also because these are already big chunky shoes. Happily, the lack of any toe encumbrance (like the little wall around the sunken sole of Birkenstocks) lets me size down without problem to my nervy toes which need headroom.I depend on certain VIONIC sandals (eg, high tide and clogs w/similar soles) for the firm super-high arches, but I have two problems with most of their shoes:- Cheap synthetic uppers that show scratches and surface-peel almost immediately. Ridiculous for the prices they charge. The wonderful soles last forever; the uppers get trashed almost immediately.- Too much space above my lean/low-volume foot; non-adjustable straps that are too big and don't hold my forefoot firmly, or the inability to tighten straps enough. These sandals fix those problems for me (aside from the side strap, tightened so much the Velcro only partially overlaps), uniquely fitting my foot. In the photos, notice how my "wide but skinny" forefoot fits perfectly under the strap. Though perfect for me, they may be too tight under the front strap for a more typical foot. My heel is narrow but my forefoot needs extra width that most shoes don't provide. The REAL LEATHER and SUEDE is very attractive and sturdy, a great taupe color, and not cheap looking like many Vionic synthetic uppers.I like this smooth plastic-y footbed much better than Vionic's suede footbeds, which get dirty quickly in my experience, and don't handle moisture well. I got these platform sandles to walk above the puddles, so I appreciate this footbed which would appear to be waterproof. (I know the suede will probably discolor with rain or puddles, but the rest of the shoe is great for wet ground.I haven't walked in them yet so can't report on that, but they are big, stiff and kind of heavy, flexing slightly under the ball of the foot.
