Close your eyes and imagine the scene. On a greensward, in a wooded park next to a pond 30 meters across and 60 meters wide. Trees behind and to either side. A gentle northerly, almost still and cold breeze is wafting and across the pond a silvery bedewed lawn stretching away for a furlong before diving under trees and shrubs. Robins are investigating, twittering along with bluetits, coaltits and nuthatches. The low early morning sunlight streaming towards you but it is a chilly 3 degrees. A slowly billowing mist is rising from the water where moorhens and ducks are waking. I'm coddling a fresh cup of coffee keeping my hands warm and admiring the ambience. I've been stood still 20 mins while watching the wildlife stir and my hands, ears and face are now cold. I'm wearing the Posh Gear Cardigan over a long sleeve cotton shirt and I am suitably warm enough not to need a coat. What a treat.Then I had to go to work - Doh!DELIVERY/UN-BOXINGI've had and used my new cardigan for a few days over the last month. It was delivered in about a week, arriving within a cardboard box in a commendable bio-degradable plastic bag. My immediate thought was it smelt - a little earthy. I hung it to air for a couple of days and was pleased the odour disappeared. Apparently silk has this sort of scent. I have to admit that when I got caught in a rain shower and wetting the fabric the odour returned a little until I dried off again. It's silk, it does this I got over it and is certainly not a problem for me.The picture shown for the black item, which I purchased, has been taken in a bright light and as such looks a little more charcoal grey on screen than in real life. It is black.SIZESize is excellent (for me) I'm a typical UK 2XL and it fits perfectly. Arm length is spot on as well as chest size (47-48"). It is form fitting rather than tight, if you get my drift. The buttons aren't trying to burst apart, even around the belly.The material is close knitted with a fine thread and gives (stretchy) enough with excellent spring back. Seams around the shoulders look like they are taped too so here's hoping they will last for a good long time. It isn't fluffy like a lambs-wool material and has a refined, smooth, soft and warm feel.I've used this in my office too, up to a warm 23 C, and I have not needed to remove it due to overheat like I would have done with a modern fleece, for example. I can't say I would wear it in the height of summer though.I've started purchasing several alpaca items recently because commercially farmed cashmere seems to have become deficient from the original. I can say without blushing that this Posh Gear cardigan is up there at the top.All in all, I am very satisfied I purchased this garment despite the higher price I would have normally payed. I would not have bought this if it was a nylon blend. I'm almost about to press the buy button again to get the other colours.
